A Thousand Words In Idioms: E and F

I was very enthusiastic, when I saw this meme the first time at my friend Thom's Place 4 Well Whatever.... These are the words of Jientje, the host at Heaven is in Belgium:

As long as people have been around, they have tried to communicate with each other. As a means of getting the message across as clearly as possible, idioms and sayings have found their way into our language. Now, because "a picture paints a thousand words", I thought it would be nice to make this a new photo challenge. The idea is to choose an idiom, or a saying, (even slang is allowed) and illustrate it with a picture. Each week we'll cover two letters of the alphabet, okay? The very first edition is here if you need some inspiration.

The meme turned out quite challenging, since I wasn't familiar with English Idioms. I tried to look around the Web and got to the A-Z list of free English idioms. If you know another site, please let me know. Thank you :).

E is for "The apple of your eye"

If somebody is the apple of your eye, this means that you like them very much : "My grandson is the apple of my eye". (Well, in this case they are my children)

F is for "Big fish in a small pond"

This term is used to refer to an important or highly-ranked person in a small group or organization. "He could get a job with a big company but he enjoys being a big fish in a small pond."

Thank you for hosting this great meme, Jientje

  19. That apples will always remain sweet to your taste Rosidah no matter what the years may turn them to be.

If there is anything that makes the lowly feel great, it is when one certain Big Fish will come around to enjoy spending time with them in their own small pond.
