Yellow Flower To Brighten Up The Day

Yellow Flower In The Morning

Yellow Flower In Blossom

The weather here in Indonesia is supposed to be divided into two seasons, the dry season from April to September and the wet season from October to March. At least that's what written in my daughter's elementary school books. But, currently, the weather is pretty much unpredictable here. It has been raining for several days now, whereas I need some sunshine to get my laundry dry. So, I'm posting this yellow flower from the Safari Garden Hotel & Restaurant in the hope of a brighter day. I had never seen this flower before and find it very unique in shape and color. May be someone of you could tell me the species.

PS: According to my friend Jama's book it is a Neomarica longifolia. Thank you for the information. I love the written history of the name, I found at this site here.

  1. From the looks of the flowers and leaves in the back ground, I'm guessing this plant is a kind of lily. But I'm not 100% sure.

  2. I just check my books and found it's name, it's Neomarica Longifolia or commonly known as the Apostle Plant. I love taking shots of flowers and it's frustrating not knowing the names, so I bought a few books for reference. Really comes in handy .
In the beginning I thought this flower must be a hybrid of the orchids but now I know better, thanks to my books. lol

  6. Beautiful flower Rosidah. I love this, I think I've seen it earlier on the web when I happened to browse on tropical exotic flowers. Just forgot the name, hehehe..I want to know the layman's name of it. Easier for me to remember.

  22. That's a captivating flower. Some are like that, the closer you see them the more interesting they become. Others look better at a distance.

  23. I have one of those plants in my yard too! It took me months to find out what it was - glad Jama was able identify it quickly for you. The weather here has also been very unpredictable - global warming is to blame I suppose.

  30. I missed Today's Flowers but yours adds happiness to the blogosphere. Yellow is also for friendship.

As to your laundry, you can just air dry them outside but under the shade. I do air drying with mine most than sun drying. It keeps the colour of your clothes.

We are in Autumn now and progressing towards winter, so it's normal that we get dismal weather.
