This Way Thurs-Way 6: Traffic Jam

Daily Traffic Jam

Today I have written about striving to a goal. I have shared some romantic memories from my past, and now you are looking at one of the scenes in my daily life. TRAFFIC JAM! I know, it's not desired and very common. But I often have to deal with it, when escorting my daughter to her daily school activities. According to the data from my camera it was 07.07:13 am at one of our local gas station exits, and already very crowded. You can see some parts of a private hospital in developing progress. Usually I should have been at home by that time, but it was one of our late days ;). Wish you all some happy moments!

Ruby Tuesday & Sepia Scenes 28: Soulmates

What a relief, it is finally raining! The last two days have been extremely hot here and made me feel more difficult going through all the things to get done. But you know that I try to keep my spirits high. I'm so glad that by the arrival of this rain, I have also come to some spare time. Yippee!

Now let me take you to my past. You can see the photos of me and my husband, when we were still toddlers. I really love these photos, because they were taken at very distant places on the same time line. My family was still in Germany (My parents met there when studying abroad, but that's another story), while my husband's family was in Indonesia. I like the thought that we were sitting on these tables meant to be future soul mates... Well, I better stop myself and spare you from the rest of my sentimental thoughts.

Me on A Table in Germany

My Husband on A Table in Indonesia

I have added no effects to these photos, since they already appeared to be reddish brown. Hopefully they suit Sepia Scenes and a very late Ruby Tuesday. Have a great day, everybody!

Quotable Thursday 2: Goal Quote by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

I have been feeling like running out of time these past few days. So much to do, so little time. However, I have to keep my spirits high. That's why I have chosen the quote below as a little reminder. Have a great day, everybody!
The important thing is to strive towards a goal which is not immediately visible. That goal is not the concern of the mind, but of the spirit.

~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Flight to Arras, 1942, translated from French by Lewis Galantière

Blogthings: What Hairstyle Are You?

YOU ARE A PONYTAIL

You are energetic, laid back, and a lot of fun. You are ready for whatever life throws at you.

Your idea of style is looking presentable. You prefer simple, well fitting, and neat clothes.

At your best, you are productive, inspiring, and full of live. You love to be active.

At your worst, you are hyperactive and frenzied. Sometimes it's hard for you to calm down.

I have been reading these Blogthings Quizzes for some time now, and even participated in several of them. But I never have posted one on my blog, so here is my first time. Blogthings will give html codes to paste your results into a blog post. Let me know about the result, if you decide to join the fun. I would love to read about it. I found this quiz at Thom's Place 4 Well Whatever... Thank you.

Blogger Follower List Error

Hi All,

just wanted to let you know that I am having troubles to see my follower list on the blog and at the dashboard. So, I hope you will bare with me. I usually try to visit and follow the blogs who were so kind to be my friends. But at this point of time I can not see anyone of you. John Mayer: The Heart of Life #MM

Yesterday, I have been watching Ghost Town on DVD and the song "The Heart of Life" by John Mayer caught my attention. It is the fifth single from his third album "Continuum" released on September 9, 2006. Song lyrics mean a lot to me, because like quotes they can lighten up the heart. The song is dedicated to our host LJ who has just lost her beloved furry kid, Mustafa. My heartfelt sympathy on your sudden loss, my dear.

John Clayton Mayer is a multi-talented American musician who made his official debut with the album "Room for Squares" in 2001. His musical preference went through a transition from acoustic rock to blues in 2005. Besides known for his great achievements in music that have him brought numerous awards, Mayer is also known for his romantic relationships with beautiful artists like Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston.

Out of Camera

White and Yellow Flower

I'm temporary out of camera. Both of my camera memory cards got damaged. I was taking some photos at our yard in the morning, and was having a great time when I moved to a spot near our fence that was under construction... Then puff, the KYOCERA's memory card was suddenly unreadable. So, I took the SE mobile out of my pocket and puff... the same error occurred! What do you think had happened? I often take photos at that particular spot and there were no problems at all. There were even no signs of trouble at other spots before the incident. It's a little bit odd to me that both of the cameras were effected in the same way.

Anyway, it's good that I still can go through my photo archives to look for some photos to share. This flower was taken on the same stroll, when I took a closer look on the red hybiscus. I would appreciate, if someone could tell me the name. Have a great week, everyone.

I've Been Tagged: Captured In Black And White

My friend Mariuca has been posting about this simple, but beautiful tag and I decided to play along. I love photos and quotes! That explains it all.

} Start Copy

"A good Snapshot stops a moment from running away."
When you photograph people in colour you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in B&W, you photograph their souls! ~Ted Grant

} End of Copy

Rules:

Copy the quotes above from start copy to end Copy.

Replace the Photograph with your own or your loves ones’ Black and White captured moments that you want to cherish for the rest of your life.

I have replaced the photograph with my beloved children. I believe that my daughter was 4 years old, whereas her brother was 2 years. Both were sitting in a plastic tub on the back terrace of my parents home. My son had still these extreme curly hairs, which now have disappeared after several hair cuts. My sisters in law used to tease me that there must be a saloon in my womb, because of the children's hair.

If you like this tag, feel free to play along!

Window Views 1: Welcome

Welcome to Window Views

Wow, I'm feeling like on a marathon here! Three great memes were launched on the same day, and I love them all.

Mary The Teach has another great meme called Window Views. It's really amazing how she comes up with these wonderful ideas. I already have so much fun participating at Ruby Tuesday and Sepia Scenes.

My first entry here was actually taken by my sister in law with her NOKIA mobile when escorting my daughter to one of our local malls. It must have been about 5 years ago, I'm not quite sure...
I picked this photo because it seems to say "Welcome to Window Views"!

Dinah Craik Friendship Quote

Three great memes have been launched this Thursday: Think Green Thursday, Window Views, and Quotable Thursday. I think all of them are very interesting themes.

My friend Pamposh from the Womens Blogger Directory decided on a new meme called Quotable Thursday to share and spread some inspiration and wisdom. The minute I read her post, it already occurred to my mind that my first entry would have to be about friendship. A lovely bond I am striving for in my daily life. Something I really couldn't do without. Let me dedicate Dinah Craik's Friendship Quote :

But oh! the blessing it is to have a friend to whom one can speak fearlessly on any subject; with whom one's deepest as well as one's most foolish thoughts come out simply and safely. Oh, the comfort - the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person - having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away. ~Dinah Craik, A Life for a Life, 1859

Think Green Thursday 1: In The Spirit of Earth Day

White Rose | Rosidah Abidin | Photo Meme | Earth DayWhite Rose

Think Green Thursday is a new meme hosted by Gina aka Pagan Sphinx, which focuses on the concept of environmental awareness, renewable energy and protecting natural spaces, animals and their habitats. I think it is great that we start the meme this month, as a lot of people are encouraged about the awareness and appreciation for the Earth's environment due to Earth Day on April 22. So let's give Mother Earth the tribute see really deserves from us.

“We're sitting on our blessed Mother Earth from which we get our strength and determination, love and humility - all the beautiful attributes that we've been given. So turn to one another; love one another; respect one another; respect Mother Earth; respect the waters - because that's life itself!” Phil Lane, Sr. quotes (Yankton Sioux)

Earth Day

I am the Earth
And the Earth is me.
Each blade of grass,
Each honey tree,
Each bit of mud,
And stick and stone
Is blood and muscle,
Skin and bone.

And just as I
Need every bit
Of me to make
My body fit,
So Earth needs
Grass and stone and tree
And things that grow here
Naturally.

That's why we
Celebrate this day.
That's why across
The world we say:
As long as life,
As dear, as free,
I am the Earth
And the Earth is me.

This Way Thurs-Way 5: Teeth Specialist Signs

It is time for another This Way Thurs-Way. I have made a collage of teeth specialist signs that I had noticed at several places when we were on the road, and last week I finally got my final piece... A teeth specialist shop! Ahli gigi means teeth specialist in Bahasa Indonesia, and I actually didn't know what these teeth specialists do. My husband told me that they provide fake teeth. Have a great day, everybody :)!

How to Add Scrollbars to Blog Widgets

I have been seeing a lot of blogs with scroll bar blog lists and wanted to apply one of my own to add the First Commenters Club Blogroll, which includes many members. Displaying them all with the usual Blog List widget would take a lot of space. So I searched the Web and finally came upon this great link here "Tips for New Bloggers: Add Scrollbars to Blog Widgets". It is a very comprehensive post about adding scroll bars to your blog and discusses various options for you. I would like to give my high appreciations to the owner of this blog. Thank you.

Since I only wanted to apply the scroll bar for one particular blog list widget, this is what I did based on the given post instructions:

Click Customize --> Add Gadget in Page Elements (Layout) --> Create Blog List --> Save. Then click Edit HTML in Layout --> Checklist Expand Widget Templates --> search First Commenters Bloglist with Find in the Edit Menu of the browser --> identify and take a note of the widget ID --> search /* Sidebar with Find in the Edit Menu of the browser (Note: The original post refers to /* Sidebar Content /*, which turned out as /* Sidebar Boxes /* in my template) --> Copy and add the given overflow property into the stylesheet:

#Label1{
height:200px;
overflow:auto;
}

Change Label1 with the previous noted widget ID (In my case it was Bloglist8, and I also reduced the scroll bar height to my preference) --> Click preview to make sure everything looks like intended --> Save.

Happy trying!

Susan Boyle Proves Don't Judge A Book By Its Cover

Uploaded by observateurs

I think most of you might already have heard or read about Susan Boyle by now, haven't you? She is the new singing sensation from Britain's Got Talent 2009. I'm so glad that I finally found a YouTube video that still could be embedded, so that you can see and hear her for yourself, just in case you still have missed her.

Check out the full version of her audition at this URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lp0IWv8QZY. Pay attention to the people's expression before and after Susan's performance. She really delivered the unexpected! I guess no one had thought that such an 'ordinary' lady at the age 47 had such a wonderful voice. Simon Cowell's expressions were priceless. Listen to his comment after the performance.

Susan Boyle really proved that we shouldn't judge a book by its cover! She dreamed a dream and is on her way to fulfill it.

Take A Closer Look

Red Hibiscus

One of my favorite places to take photos would be my parent in law's complex. They have a lot of beautiful flowers around the place and I like to take my time walking along the streets with my husband's KYOCERA on my neck. We visit them almost every week and it has become my new routine to go on these morning strolls.

I would like to thank my friends who have been giving me so many wonderful tips on photography. Please, bear with me as I am in the process of exploring this new hobby :). Last Sunday, I have been trying to apply some of the given advice on the macro (close up) shots and the red hibiscus here was one of the results. It is my first entry on Macro Monday and I also would like to submit it for this week's Mellow Yellow Monday and Ruby Tuesday. Have a great week, everybody :)!

The Story Behind The Hot Blog Award

This is another award from my friend Pacey at Today's Blah
I'm so thankful & delighted that she thought of me for

The Hot Blog Award!

Tracking down the origin of this hot appreciation brought me to the Aussie Coffee Shop of Therese. So, this time we have arrived in Australia. According to Therese:

This is a picture made by Fr. John Speekman. He made it with a really cool program but I cannot remember the name of it. Isn't he clever?

Anyway he told me to pass it onto some blogs so that we can have another award floating around the blogsphere. I will pass it onto 6 bloggers and those 6 can pass it onto 6 other bloggers. Don't forget to post the picture in your sidebar to show everyone how hot your blog is.

Thanks to both of you :)

Now, for passing on this award. I think some of you know by now, that I'm always having a hard time to choose. There are too many hot blogs in this Blogosphere!

Here are 6 categories, which I think as burning fuels of a hot blog
(without any adult content):

1. Hot Art (Candles or other crafts)
2. Hot Blogging Tips
3. Hot Communities
4. Hot Friends
5. Hot Information & Thoughts (Literature, Meme etc.)
6. Hot Photography

If you have found yourself in one of my hot categories and I am a visitor of your blog, then this award is dedicated to you from the bottom of my heart. I would love you to accept my deeply appreciation by grabbing this button and place it on your blog. Still there are no strings attached, I know that some of you might not be too fancy about buttons. The most important part is that you know I think you have a hot blog. Thank you :).

Pre-Scheduling Your Blog Posts

Okay, I find myself really amused right now. I should have done this in the first place, because it is actually one of the most simplest things that you can do in life ;).

If you have a question, then JUST ASK!

I have been wondering about this matter quite for a while (in silence), because there are these scrambled patterns in your life with very intense activities or sometimes a lot of spare time. A pre-scheduled post would come in very handy to balance these situations. You blog a few scheduled posts in your leisure time, especially when you know that you will be very busy or off for vacation at other times.

So when my friend Pacey from Today's Blah mentioned about it in her post yesterday, I finally pushed myself to ask. This is the answer:

You can pre-schedule your posts by clicking the post options below the post box in Create. Just look for it above the Publish Post button. After clicking this Post Options link, you will see Post date and time in the right corner of a display. Enter your data and you are set, after clicking Publish Post.

Pacey was right, this is very easy to figure out, sure you won't miss that. Thank you, Pacey. I should have asked a long time ago. Well, better too late then never. Have a great weekend, everybody :)!

PS. Talking about questions reminds me of the Zombie Chicken Award. I would really love to find out who the mysterious award creator is. I'm going in circles here. The secret of the master is heavily protected by the zombie chickens ;).

The Story Behind The Kreativ Blogger Award

kreativ blogger award button
On April 8th I got a lovely surprise from Pacey at Today's Blah.
I'm so thankful & delighted that she thought of me for

The Kreativ Blogger Award

Trying to find out about the inspiration behind this special award, I finally came upon Husfruas Memoarer. A blog owned by Hulda, a creative Norwegian Blogger. She had first published this award on Mei 5th, 2008 and dedicated it to her sister Kjersti and her friends Borghild, Turid and Flittiglisene. If you click the links of these first nominee names, you can read their response in English Google Translation.

This was the original award button created by Hulda. I have decided to use her button to honor the lovely idea and creation, although I also like the new button above.

original kreativ blogger award button
The most unique part of this button here is that it actually was handmade! Yes, you have got that right. Hulda made the piece of art with her own hands. Go and see the lovely scrapping steps for the Kreativ Award button. She made the post kind of mysterious. I think that her thoughts behind this award were very, very creative. It makes me appreciate it even more. Thank you, Hulda.

Based on Google translation, this is my version of what she wanted us to do with the award:

1. Share this award with 4 creative Bloggers you often visit.
2. Explain why you think these persons are creative Bloggers.

Okay, now I will try my best to pass this award on. I visit a lot of creative and interesting Bloggers in the Blogosphere. So, I can't make up my mind and just pick 4 blogs among them.

These are 4 categories, which I see as creative points
to be nominated for the Kreativ Blogger award:

1. Creative Art (Candles or other crafts)
2. Creative Cooking
3. Creative Photography
4. Creative Thoughts (Literature, Meme, etc.)

If you have found yourself in one of my creative categories and I am a regular visitor of your blog, then this award is dedicated to you from the bottom of my heart. I would love you to accept my deeply appreciation by grabbing this button and place it on your blog. Still there are no strings attached, I know that some of you might not be too fancy about buttons. The most important part is that you know I love and appreciate your creativity. Thank you.

I love to watch the sky from my backyard or balcony. All those wonderful pattern and colors painted by nature everyday. This photo here reminded me of the burning sun (Well, as matter of fact it is the sun). Fire and flames. Thus, lead me to the memories of my favorite song Eternal Flame. I never knew anything else about this song, but thanks to Wikipedia I can tell you now that it is:

A song by The Bangles which became a hit single in 1989, peaking at number one in the charts in six countries, including Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It was written by popular songwriters Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly and the Bangles' own Susanna Hoffs.

My currently slow Internet connection hindered me from a throughout search of a video. I hope you enjoy this new song version of the Atomic Kittens here. The flowers caught my attention and the sound seemed to be good. Since I have read in the YouTube comment section that the lyrics were a little bit difficult to read, I added the Bangles lyrics from Lyricsmode.com. Have a great weekend, everyone :)!
