Children of The Earth United

White Teratai at Safari Garden

It has been a while since I last published my Green post... If you know me, you might have noticed that I have been suffering from allergic sinusitis that strikes from time to time, and has become more intense lately. Allergy and dust a.k.a pollution isn't quite a good match.

I have been searching the Web to find links discussing pollution, and sometimes I really think that kids are way better than us the so-called grown-ups. I have found an inspiring site called Children of The Earth United that takes us on an adventure in environmental education. The aim is to:
Help people to:

* develop a greater understanding and respect for animals, plants, water, soil, air and energy systems;
* comprehend the positive and negative environmental effects of our actions;
* acquire a knowledge of practical, sustainable living strategies which consciously and carefully utilize our natural resources;
* obtain information on nature programs, centers and organizations; and
* share and learn from each other’s creative ideas and knowledge.
Please, take your time to check out their site. Thank you!

Playful Spirits

Playful Spirits
“You are led through your lifetime by the inner learning creature, the playful spiritual being that is your real self. Don't turn away from possible futures before you're certain you don't have anything to learn from them.”

Music & Musical Monday: Tears In Heaven (Eric Clapton)

Thanks for the upload aspirinsmoke

There were a lot of songs coming to my mind for heartbreak, but here's my choice this week for Music & Musical Monday: Tears In Heaven by Eric Clapton. This is a Wikipedia link where you can read the story behind his touching song. Did you know that it was a way to release Eric's pain on his 4 year old son's death?

I'm wishing you all a lot of joy and blessings in life, but whenever there might be a reason that brings you down: just remember Eric's advice to be strong and carry on!

Reach For The Sky | Idioms

It's almost weekend and I hope all of you had a splendid time. If things were kind of harsh on you, I hope everything gets better soon. This post was written in the spirit to reach for the sky. I'm submitting this post to A Thousand Words In Idioms and SkyWatch Friday.

So here we go...
M is for "Over the Moon"
Over The Moon Idiom
Meaning: Very happy or delighted. This is actually a shot of the morning sky at our yard, but I thought it kind of resembled the moon. My Kyocera camera doesn't suit night shots, so please go with me to pretend on this one.

S is for "Blue Sky Thinking"
Blue Sky Thinking Idiom
Meaning: Brainstorming; opening up your mind as widely as possible in discussion. This shot was taken by my husband on an office Team-Building event in Bali. They were as matter of fact "blue sky thinking".
I got my idioms from A Phrase A Week for this post.

InternetSlang.com: A List of Internet Slang

Have you ever been wondering about Internet slang, abbreviations and acronyms on the Internet. Well then, this site called InternetSlang.com might be great use for you. According to their statement:

On this site you will find a list of slang terms, acronyms and abbreviations as used in websites, ICQ chat rooms, blogs, SMS, and Internet forums - a complete dictionary of slang. There are many such internet slang words in use, some are more widely understood than others, and new ones are evolving all the time. This list is large but inevitably incomplete; however it contains the more commonly used slang words and slang terms. 3321 acronyms are listed at present [...]

I found this site while searching for the Internet slang meaning of xoxoxo. It turns out to be "Hugs and Kisses". Can you believe that I didn't know that all this time .

I've Been Tagged | The Fourth of The Fourth

My dear friend Thom at Thom's Place 4 Well Whatever posted this tag yesterday, and I decided to play along

James at Newton Area Photo passed on a little challenge to his readers. The rules are as follows:

1. Open the fourth file where you store your photos.
2. Pick the 4th photo.
3. Explain the photo.
4. Pass challenge onto 4 other bloggers.

Thanks James for the challenge.

The fourth folder in my Picture folder was Events, and the fourth folder in this folder was the folder of our Anyer vacation pictures in 2005. The 4th photo in this folder turned out to be the photo of my children enjoying their time at the beach. This shot was taken by my husband with my brother in law's Panasonic camera.

My one and a half year old son actually wasn't too fond about the beach at that time. Have you noticed that he held his distance behind his almost four year old sister? If you read my post about overcoming fears, you'll find out more about it. Have a great week, everyone!

Music & Musical Monday: I'll Be There For You

Yesterday me and my husband watched some of the "Friends" series on DVD again, and I was reminded of the theme song: I'll Be There For You by The Rembrandts. Hope you enjoy the lyrics and tunes. Have a wonderful week, everyone!

It's the first theme for September at Musical Monday!
Song You Love To Dance To

Diane says:
Next week, we flip the switch with Heartbreakers.
And don't forget, September 21st - Four Seasons,
and September 28th - First Concert.

PS: It would be lovely if you could take your time to visit Shinade aka Jackie's Tribute at The Painted Veil. Juanita, her sister-in-law, is battling with cancer and the doctor has given her only 48 hours left. Let's send some good thoughts and prayers for Jackie, Walter and the rest of her family. Thank you :).

Tasikmalaya Earthquake

Yesterday a 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia at 14.55. Its epicenter was located offshore at south-west of Tasikmalaya. Heavy tremors were felt in several areas around it, including Jakarta, which is located about 200km to the north.

I'm so grateful that despite the shock and some damages caused at my husband's office in Jakarta, my whole family is safe and sound.

According to the news on Metro TV until now there are 35 death, 40 missing and 422 injured. My deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy goes out to all the victims. May the survivors have the strength and patience to carry on.
