Friday Shoot Out for May 29: Water

This week's assignment was by Hensly at Lucky We Live Hawaii:
Next weeks theme will simply be WATER. I'll leave it up to everyone's imagination on where they go with the theme! Mahalo!

I really love watery scenes. So here we start with one of my most favorite objects: The raindrops. I don't know why, but they seem so comforting to me. I took this shot at my parent in laws living area.

My kids love to go swimming. That's why our local swimming pools have become one of our regular destinations in a week. My son still learns how to swim in the big pool, while his sister has already been participating in several swimming competitions.

This is an unique shower at one of our local swimming pools.

Indonesia has some lovely beaches. Here are two of them.

Never Lose Your Heart

The most important thing in illness is never to lose heart. ~Nikolai Lenin

I just found this quote at the Quote Garden and find it so true. Being sick for a long time, you need the strength in your heart to help you hold on. Don't let an illness or any tough situation drag your spirits down! Try to stand up and find the best way to cope with it.

I have been experiencing electrolyte imbalance and sinusitis, which can be exhausting from time to time. It gets difficult to go through the daily activities... and sometimes... there were points where I even got scared by symptoms, like heavy breathing and temporary numbness. I feel very blessed that these two symptoms only occur on a rare basis. Hopefully it stays this way. Getting to understand my body's reactions toward these illnesses has helped me a lot to avoid or at least reduce situations like these. I think paying attention to good eating habits and adequate rest are some important factors. Did you notice that our bodies actually tell us when its time for a break or we don't eat well? Don't ignore the signs and you might be way better of. But of course there are also situations that are more difficult to avoid, if not unavoidable. In my last case, I think it was the weather. We had been going through some very hot days with a lot of dust, and then some heavy rain afterward. Yeah, sure! Just blame it on the rain.

Enough about me. I wanted to introduce you to some remarkable persons, which I met around the Web. They showed me great courage and proof that we indeed should never lose our hearts, even in some of the toughest situations. If you take your time to visit these sites you might get inspired, too:

Have a wonderful day, everyone! Never lose your hearts.

This post is dedicated to all of my dear friends and visitors.

Glitter Graphics & Comments

Thank you for all the wonderful comments and well wishes. They really mean a lot to me. Sorry, if I haven't made it to your blog yet. I am doing much more better now, but my sinusitis still gives me pain when sitting in front of the monitor too long. I hope I will be able to visit all of your blogs again soon.

A special thank you to my friend Carleen who has presented me with the lovely friends award. You can see it linked at my sidebar. I hope I can post more about this in short time. If you have time, please visit her blog and see for yourself what a courageous and remarkable woman she is. My friend Thom has made a great choice by nominating her. Keep on spreading love and friendship through the Blogosphere. I hope all of you have a wonderful week!

Friday Shoot Out: Paint The Town Red

This week's assignment was from George in St. Augustine
Thank you for the great theme

I love taking red shots. Too bad that it has been raining a lot these days and a cold has made its round through my family, so I couldn't stroll around our area and take more red shots. Still, I hope you enjoy these photos from my blog archives. A click on a photo will lead you to the related blog post. Have a great weekend, everyone!

The Beauty & Colors of Life

A leaf fluttered in through the window this morning, as if supported by the rays of the sun, a bird settled on the fire escape, joy in the task of coffee, joy accompanied me as I walked.

Anais Nin

These quotes here really warmed my heart, when I first read them. I think they are so beautiful! Let's try to walk with joy and spread some smiles because it might add more sunshine and color to our life.
A smile is the light in the window of your face that tells people you're at home.

Author Unknown

The following photos are from my family vacation to the Safari Garden Hotel & Restaurant.
Take a look at the colorful sign and bird.

The parrot is putting some fruits in the right order again.

As difficult as it gets from time to time, I really think that we should walk with more joy to notice the colors of life. See the beauty in all the simple things around us.

I will end this post with a wonderful green message: The Man Who Planted Trees from my friend Keats. I hope that you will take your time to read and apply the spirit of this eco-tale. Let's GO GREEN! Have a great weekend, everyone.

A Thousand Words In Idioms: G and H

It is time again for A Thousand Words In Idioms. These are the words of Jientje, the host at Heaven is in Belgium:

As long as people have been around, they have tried to communicate with each other. As a means of getting the message across as clearly as possible, idioms and sayings have found their way into our language. Now, because "a picture paints a thousand words", I thought it would be nice to make this a new photo challenge. The idea is to choose an idiom, or a saying, (even slang is allowed) and illustrate it with a picture. Each week we'll cover two letters of the alphabet, okay? The very first edition is here if you need some inspiration.

I got my idioms from the A-Z list of free English idioms. If you know another site, please let me know. Thank you :).

G is for "Grin from ear to ear"

If somebody is grinning from ear to ear, they look very satisfied and happy. Well, in this case my son is grinning from ear to ear at his first swimming lesson at the big pool.

G and H is for "Hand in glove"

Two or more people who are in collusion, or work in close association, are said to be hand in glove. "After the match, it was discovered that he was hand in glove with the referee."

Six Unimportant Things That Make Me Happy Part 2

I've been tagged by Thoms Place 4 Well Whatever :)
The rules are simple:
Tag and link back to the person who tagged you.
List six (un)important things that make you happy.
Tag six bloggers and let them know they're “it”.

Like I said before, I like to see everything that makes me happy as something important in my life. But, here is my list:

1. Watching sunset/sunrise from our home.
I really love the paintings of the sky.

2. Ignoring negative comments or thoughts.
It makes life much more lighter and happier.
Better be a warrior than a worrier.

3. Raindrops.
They seem so relaxing and awake happy thoughts.

4. Chocolate.
It can reduce my electrolyte imbalance.

5. Daster batik.
Very comfortable traditional clothes to wear.

6. Someone playing along with this (un)important tag and letting me know about it. Now, that makes me happy too.
